The Redoubt is able to offer a range of volunteering opportunities:

General maintenance

If you are handy with a screwdriver or paint brush come and join our maintenance team. The team meet once a month during the summer season and once a week during the winter closed period.

Collection management

With more than 30,000 objects in the museum we regularly have projects linked to the care and management of the collections. These can range from practical jobs like medal cleaning to more IT based jobs like scanning archival material. Rather than an ongoing placement these are offered on a project by project basis.

Gallery stewards

If you enjoy talking to visitors about their visit to the museum and Eastbourne or would be interested in giving short tours of the collections then this could be the role for you. You would also be helping the museum staff keep the exhibits clean and tidy while we are open to the public. We ask for a minimum of a morning or an afternoon or c3.5hrs.
