Redoubt Fortress and Military Museum

The Sussex Combined Services Collection

World War Two Operations Room part of Sussex Combined Services MuseumThe Sussex Combined Services collection is the founder collection of the Redoubt’s military museum. It was formed in 1976 under the careful supervision of Brigadier Edward Caffyn to commemorate the role of Sussex during the Second World War.

Sussex has long had to defend herself from attack from sea, land and air and as a result has had a longstanding connection with the armed forces.

There are displays of uniforms, badges, medals and more from the three main services as well as the non-regular service, such as the part played by civilians in the defence of Sussex, in roles such as Air Raid Precautions and the Fire, Medical and Rescue Services.
